Frontline healthcare workers relied on an outdated page to track their completed shifts—clunky, inconsistent, and hard to use. With no backend changes possible, I redesigned the experience to be clearer and more intuitive while modernizing the UI with the new design system. The result not only improved usability but also reduced design and tech debt, setting up faster development for future features.

Frontline healthcare workers need a simple way to reconcile their hours and flag discrepancies in their pay. How might we make this process easier and more reliable?

I began with a UI audit to assess the page against best practices and clarify the scope and constraints of possible changes. Next, I interviewed former healthcare workers on the CS team to understand how the page was used, then followed this process:

The redesigned UI improves information hierarchy for reconciling hours and uses clear visual cues to highlight potential issues. Users can review details and flag discrepancies directly in the app by contacting their administrator.

The redesigned UI aligned the page with the updated design system, reducing design and tech debt and making future iterations more scalable for both design and development. An opportunity was also identified to let workers submit corrections directly for approval, logged as a potential enhancement for future releases.
